The Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag official trailer was leaked today, a full 24 hours before it’s official announcement, according to Ubisoft. In doing so takes pole position in the race to be the first publisher to release a title for the next generation of gaming consoles.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Good news then for us, because we have been about as anxious as a bunch of nuns in a brewery waiting for more information on this game. After having watched the trailer I can appreciate why it was leaked, it’s that awesome. Narrated by Blackbeard, we know have confirmation of our Protagonist, Edward Kenway. We know there is going to be more stealthy takedowns from behind, we know that there is going to be more mysteries and puzzles to solve, and yes, we know that there is going to be a whole lot of epic naval warfare – Pirate style!

I have heard some murmurs and rumors about underwater exploring and battles. There is however no clarity on whether or not this game is going to involve modern day characters syncing up by way of an animus, as we were used to from the previous Assassins Creed games. Speculation at the moment is no, which has caused a bit of a stir amongst fans, as they feel it is not a thoroughbred Assassins Creed title without it. I myself was not partial to the whole, modern day syncing via ancestral memories accessed via a machine – Sci-fi to the max type stuff – as I felt like it detracted from the realism of the game.

Thoughts and rumors aside, what we know for sure after having watched this trailer, is that it is looking to be awesome all the same. Check it out below:

As far as the release date is concerned, it looks like the game is set for release on the 29th of October (If it doesn’t get leaked beforehand) and it will be released on Next Gen consoles, which is awesome for all you die-hard console fans, who already have leaked prototype copies of the PS4 … and whatever Microsoft is calling their new Xbox.
