To make amends for the troubled launch of SimCity earlier this month EA are making good on their promise to give their customers a free game to download.

EA has been under all sorts of pressure from haters across the gaming world and the recent SimCity incident did not improve their popularity. I for one feel that in general EA are rather hard done by. This does not excuse them for the launch issues associated with SimCity but to the companies credit they have been open and responsive, adding new servers, updating the game and communicating regularly throughout the process. One of their updates mentioned that those consumers that bought and activated a copy of SimCity before March 25th will receive a free EA game. Well today EA confirmed this and unveiled the list of games that you can choose from and it is not their age old B grade titles (as many haters had predicted) but include several AAA games including the just launched Dead Space 3:

  • Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Bejeweled 3
  • Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
  • MOHW (Standard Edition)
  • NFS Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
  • Plants vs. Zombies
  • SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

Pretty impressive if you consider that they have now sold over 1 million copies (that is a lot of potential free games). So if you buy a copy of SimCity today (before March 25th) you not only get a great game (read our review) but you also get an additional free game. You can read the full update, with instructions on redeeming your game, from EA right here.
