Following the announcement earlier this year that JK Rowling is writing the screenplay for three Harry Potter-inspired movies, we were bummed that Harry Potter wasn’t going to be making an appearance. But Rowling must’ve been feeling nostalgic and has written about HP for the first time in 7 years!
Rowling updates us on 34 year old HP and co. through the pen of gossip girl Rita Skeeter in a 1,500 word story on Pottermore.
The story is written as a tabloid piece in the Daily Prophet and is the latest in a series about the Quidditch World Cup that Rowling has been writing in anticipation of the actual World Cup. The series of articles will finish when Ginny Weasley, who is now a journalist, pens a story of the 2014 Quidditch World Cup Final on 11 July.
Like most gossip columns, there isn’t much fans can take away from the story, but we are given a look into what everyone has been up to in the HP universe.
Skeeter gives us the scoop on a Hogwarts reunion at the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, which includes Harry Potter, Ginny, their kids (James and Albus), Hermoine and Ron as well as Nevile, Luna and Viktor Krum, who is still a top Quidditch player.
