Hyperlapse 2

On Tuesday Instagram released another standalone app called Hyperlapse.

This new app allows you to create time-lapse videos with your iPhone while you are in motion. Usually you would need to keep the camera still to achieve this effect, but thanks to Hyperlapse’s stabilisation technology, shaky videos are smoothed out into high-quality time-lapse videos. You can also check what the video would look like without the stabilisation feature by holding down on the screen once you’ve captured the footage.

Unlike Instagram, you won’t need an account to use Hyperlapse. You simple tap once in the camera to start capturing and tap again to stop. After you have captured your video you can choose the playback speed and save the video to your camera roll. You can then choose to share it on Instagram or Facebook as you like. Just remember that Instagram limits the length of videos to 15 seconds.

While filming you will notice two timers: one is to indicate how long the footage is and the other indicates how long the playback will be.

Tip: When choosing a playback speed, the general rule is that the longer the footage the higher the playback speed (up to 12x normal speed).

“We designed Hyperlapse to be as simple as possible” Instagram wrote in a blog post.“We can’t wait to see what you’ll create.”

Download it for free on iTunes (not available on Android yet).
