Times Media Group (TMG) has launched Vidi, South Africa’s first video streaming service on 10 September.
With this new service you will be able to stream your favourite movies or series on any device.
How it works
You will have two options:
- An unlimited subscription for R149 pm, which gives you access to as many 1000 hours of series and over 100 movies, and
- A rent option where you can rent a new release for R27 or R15 for older titles.
You don’t require a decoder or a dish. The movies or series you wish to watch can be streamed on multiple devices including your smartphone or tablet. You can obviously also connect your device or PC to your TV with a HDMI cable.
What’s really cool about the service is that it is advertisement-free and there is no program schedule, which means you can watch what you want when you want. The service adapts to your internet speeds to accommodate for slower internet connections.
There is also a service for kids, called Kids Playzone, which has a large selection of kids series and the latest kiddies movies.
And don’t think that you will only be able to watch golden oldies. Andrew Gill, MD of Broadcast and Content at TMG, has the following to say:
“We have secured some of the best available content from the biggest names in the industry. We will be constantly refreshing our offering with new and exciting films and series.”
To celebrate its launch, Vidi is offering a 30 day trial-membership. All you need is a credit card, a minimal speed of 1MB internet connection and a device to view your movie or series. You can also opt-out of the service at any time as there is no contract binding you to the service for a certain amount of time.
The titles they currently have in their library include:
- Breaking Bad
- Cougar Town
- Topsy and Tim
- And MANY more!
