Bill Gates has topped The Forbes 400 list again this year, with a net worth of $81 billion. This is the 21st year in a row that Bill Gates is voted as the richest American.
The bar was set high this year with a price entry of $1.55 billion, which resulted in 113 U.S. billionaires not making the list.
Ex-CEO and founder of Oracle, Larry Ellison came third, with a net worth of $50 billion.
Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest self-made female billionaire, is also the youngest woman on the list, with a net worth of $4.5 billion. She is only 30 years old and she has already built a blood testing company, Theranos, which is valued at $9 billion.
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has moved up to 11th on the list and is also the biggest gainer on the list. However, founder of GoPro, Nick Woodman has jumped the highest with a 200% increase in his net worth since last year.
George Lucas, Donald Trump, Steven Spielberg and Oprah made it onto the list as well.
27 new American billionaires made it onto the list, 26 people fell off and 6 people passed away. All 400 of the richest Americans together are worth a massive $2.29 trillion!
