Harry Potter fans are in for some magic tricks and treats this Halloween. JK Rowling has confirmed on Pottermore.com that fans can expect a new Harry Potter story this Halloween.
The 1 700 word story will be published on Pottermore.com on 31 October 2014. The new Harry Potter story will centre around Professor Dolores Umbridge, the nasty cow-in-pink who made Harry write out “I must not tell lies” which left a scar on his hand.
Umridge first featured in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as the newly Ministry appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. She was later promoted to Hogwarts High Inquisitor and finally became Headmistress. Her time at Hogwarts was characterised by strict rules and cruel punishment. According to Pottermore.com:
Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar.
Fans can expect new details about Umbridge’s background story and her life as well as first-person commentary from Rowling regarding her feelings on the character.
