1. Batman: Arkham City’s Secret Connection To Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham City has a secret link to Batman: Arkham Knight, even though the games are 3 years apart. If you set your computer or console to 13 December 2004 (7 years before the release of Batman: Arkham City) and you visit Calendar Man he will give you the following speech:

Well, well, well. And on today of all days. Do you remember my early work? Flawed, but it showed promise. Just like you. As your skills improved, I perfected mine. Starting with seasons and moving through the weeks, I became stronger, my work more…elaborate. Days were the secret, Batman, and the end of days is coming. I was there at your beginning and I will be there at your end.

Calendar Man

So, this speech is believed to be a metaphor of the timeline of the development of the Arkam games. Starting with the date, 13 December 2004 is most likely the date that Rocksteady (the developer was founded) by Sefton Hill and Jamie Walke. Early work that was flawed but promising refers to the original Arkham Asylum, which was received well by critics but had a lot of space for development and improvements.

Calendar Man goes on to talk about improvement which signifies the much improved sequel Arkham City. The speech ends with “I was there at your beginning and I will be there at your end”, which could be making a reference to the fact that Arkham Knight will be Rocksteady‘s final Batman game.

2. Thelma & Louise In Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is one of those games with many easter eggs, but our favourite is that everyday at 7pm in the game a re-enactment of Thelma & Louise takes place close to Trevor’s helipad.

3. WaveRace: Blue Storm’s Rude Anouncer

Wave Race: Blue Storm‘s announcer is extremely upbeat and encouraging, with cheerful phrases like “THAT’S THE WAY” and “Yeeeaaaah”. But, years after the game’s release, it was discovered that the game’s upbeat announcer has an evil twin. This announcer says stuff like: “Is that the best you can do?” and “WEAK!”. Why, you ask? Maybe some players feel like it is encouraging? Maybe it’s meant to make you angry and therefore perform better. Whatever the reason, it is kind of fun shouting back at this guy and rubbing a victory in his face.

Just listen to how rude this guy is:
