5 movies from Sony Pictures have been leaked onto torrent sites following a major hack on Sunday on the studio’s computer system. Among these are Annie, Fury, Still Alice, To Write Love On Her Arms and Mr Turner. Variety reported that Fury, the World War II drama starring Brad Pitt, has been the 2nd most pirated movie and has been downloaded 1.2 million times.
These leaks come after the studio’s servers were hacked last week when all the studio’s computers shut down. The words “Hacked by #GOP” (Guardians Of The Peace) appeared on all the computer screens with a demand to access its financial documents and other data links.
Apparently Sony Pictures is investigating whether North Korea is behind the hack because of the movie The Interview, which is about a CIA-lead assassination of Kim Jong-Un.
This is not the first time Sony Pictures has experienced a hack as the studio was hacked in 2011:
We recently broke into SonyPictures.com and compromised over 1,000,000 users’ personal information, including passwords, email addresses, home addresses, dates of birth, and all Sony opt-in data associated with their accounts. Among other things, we also compromised all admin details of Sony Pictures (including passwords) along with 75,000 “music codes” and 3.5 million “music coupons”.
