It’s been years since Professor Utonium accidentally created The Powerpuff Girls in his lab in 1998. The show ran for 78 episodes until 2004. What started as an experiment to create three children for himself, Professor Utonium ended up creating three adorable superheroes who can fly and kick some serious ass. The Powerpuff Girls were super cute and also super strong, regularly saving Townsville from villains like Mojo Jojo and The Gangreen Gang.
Cartoon Network announced that the show will return to capture our hearts all over again in 2016. Nick Jennings, known for the hit show Adventure Time, is on board as executive producer. Cartoon Network announced that:
The Powerpuff Girls reboot will include an all-new television series produced by Cartoon Network Studios and a full licensing program slated to roll out across all regions. The Powerpuff Girls centers on three sugar-coated superheroes — Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup — whose mission in life alternates between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime.
There are no further details on what the new Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup will look like and whether the reboot will follow the style and storyline of the original. Check out these fan-created Powerpuff Girls and tell us what you would love to see from the new reboot:
