Attendees of this year’s South by Southwest Festival were delighted to be treated to a surprise premier of Furious 7. The new movie is the 7th instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise which started back in 2001 with Fast and Furious. This last-minute premier happened on Sunday (15 March 2015) after Neal Moritz, who has produced all the films in the franchise, decided to have the screening. Moritz stated that:

I woke up yesterday and I was reading all these great articles about SXSW and I was like, “What the fuck? Why is Furious 7 not there?”

The original cast members from the first few movies return and this is one of the late Paul Walker’s final movies before his passing in a car accident in November 2013. Tyrese Gibson was also at the SXSW premier tweeting:

Despite the early screening fans don’t have to worry about spoilers as Moritz asked audience members to keep their mouth shut about the ending of the movie. But apparently it is a perfect send-off for Paul Walker. An emotional Moritz went on to tell the audience that:

This movie is the highlight of my career. I’m so proud of what we’ve done. And I know Paul Walker would be smiling down on all of us.

What We Know So Far

Furious 7 follows on the events of Fast & Furious 6 where Han is murdered by Ian Shaw (played by Jason Statham) who is the brother of Owen Shaw. Han was one of Dominic Toretto‘s (played by Vin Diesel) family members who brought down Owen Shaw so Han was murdered as a form of revenge. Dom received a telephone call at the end of Fast & Furious 6:

You don’t know me, you’re about to…

This message came from Ian Shaw who plans to avenge his brother’s demise by killing the entire Toretto family. The family consists of Dom himself, Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Mia Torreto (Jordana Brewster) and many more. Now, Dom and his crew have no choice but to fight back and bring down Ian Shaw. The new movie is packed with famous faces like Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock), Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris.

Fans don’t have to wait long to see what Furious 7 will have in store as the movie is set to crash into cinemas this April. In the meantime check out the action-packed trailer and drop us a comment to let us know if you are excited about the new movie:
