McIlroy will be replacing Tiger Woods as the face of EA Sports’ PGA Tour games. Woods has been the main face of the games since 1998, with the relationship officially ending in 2013. Woods and McIlroy both featured on the cover of the 2011 game, but this year McIlroy has his own title.
This will be the first EA Sports game to show off the new Frostbite 3 technology. Frostbite 3 gives games sharper and more detailed graphics and EA Sports claim that it completely eliminates loading times between each hole. The technology has been used in games like Battlefield and Mass Effect and is used to enhance the environment by adding more details to objects and to bring certain elements “alive” like butterflies or trees moving in the wind.
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is set to be released in June for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
EA Sports also released the first gameplay trailer, check it out below and let us know what you think.
