Video game developer, SEGA, has announced that many SEGA mobile games for iOS and Android will be pulled from GooglePlay, iTunes, the Samsung App Store and the Amazon App Store.

This news comes after SEGA announced in January that it will be restructuring the business which has been around since the 60s. The last couple of years SEGA has shifted its focus from gaming consoles to primarily focus on PC and mobile gaming. SEGA has also told GameInformer that the company won’t be attending this year’s E3 in its own booth, but might feature in other partners’ booths. SEGA explains that it decided to pull these games because they didn’t meet SEGA’s quality standards:
It is important for us to ensure that all of our fans, regardless of platform or operating system, have a great playing experience and after evaluating our complete list of titles, we have determined that a number of them no longer meet our standards.
If you’ve already bought one of the SEGA mobile games that are being pulled you get to keep the game on your phone and in your collection of purchased apps. This means that you can continue playing purchased games even if they have been removed from an app store and if you delete the app or if you get a new device you will be able to download it again as a purchased app. Your purchased SEGA mobile games will only become redundant once you upgrade to a device or OS that is incompatible with it.
