Ghost Games, which is an Electronic Arts Inc studio, announced last week that Need for Speed will be returning in a reboot of the popular racing game franchise.
Ghost Games Executive Producer, Marcus Nilsson explains that:
Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot. Pulling on our 20 year history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to.
Fans can expect deep customisation, authentic urban motoring culture, a rich open world and an immersive narrative though out the game. The new game in the popular franchise will draw on EA’s SpeedHunters, which is an online motoring community, and used this input to create a game that is based on real-life motoring and racing communities and the urban car scene in general. Nilsson stating that:
We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.
The new Need for Speed game will be launched later on this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Ghost Games will be providing more information on the game during EA’s E3 Briefing on 15 June 2015.
