As we previously reported the former Top Gear hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will continue with their planned tour under a new name: Clarkson, Hammond & May Live. The tour was previously called the Top Gear Live tour and has been running for many years in the UK, Norway, Australia and South Africa. Now these former Top Gear hosts have recorded some promotional material for the tour in London:
Earlier this year Jeremy Clarkson was fired off the show following a “fracas” with a producer on the show. After it was announced that the popular BBC show will be severing ties with Clarkson his fellow hosts, May and Hammond announced that they will also be leaving the show in solidarity with Clarkson. Although all three hosts’ current contracts with Top Gear had recently come up for renewal, May and Hammond declined offers by the BBC to keep them on as hosts, with Hammond stating that he is “not quitting [his] mates”.
The tour is set to hit South Africa in June 2015 and you can get your tickets here. It will be their first visit to Johannesburg, after performing in the Top Gear Festival in Durban for several years. There will be four 90-minute shows and, according to the organisers, you can expect the show to be as good as ever.
The BBC seems to be taking all of this in stride and have reportedly been in talks with various hosts and stars to continue Top Gear with new hosts. As for Jeremy and the boys, they are apparently in talks with ITV, a rival UK channel, to present a new motoring show.
