Microsoft’s Halo series has reached a new milestone. The game that was introduced to the world back in 2001 on the original Xbox brought about a wave of change that introduced gamers to a new universe and a solid FPS experience.

Microsoft announced that the series reached a 65 million copy milestone as of July 2015. This is up from its 60 million copes sold back in October 2014.

This increase is probably due to the success of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection which has not only been selling well, but has also been included in new Xbox One console bundles since launch.

With Halo 5: Guardians on its way on 27 October 2015, this number is sure to increase given that it’s the first sequel in the series to release since Halo 4 back in 2012.

Microsoft also recently released a trailer to the upcoming Halo animated tie-in series, Halo: The Fall of Reach, at SDCC.
