Weekends are made to be enjoyed any way you want. But if you’re feeling like a chilled one this weekend we’ve hooked you up with some fun movies to watch at the cinemas or in the comfort of your own home:

Ster-Kinekor and NuMetro Cinemas

A movie for the whole family is Minions. As a prequel to the highly successful Dispicable Me movies, Minions follow the adventures of three Minions before they started serving Gru. It’s sure to be very entertaining and fun and explains the history of these yellow little creatures – from how they evolved from single-cell organisms to what they are now. Kevin, Stuart and Bob are three Minions chosen to go out into the world and find a new evil master to serve.

Lost River

If you’re in the mood for something more serious, Lost River might be worth a watch. Directed by Hollywood heartthrob, Ryan Gosling and stars Christina Hendricks who portrays the role of a single mother who is forced into a dark underworld in order to keep her family together. At the same time her son embarks on a journey to explore the mysterious origins of their abandoned city, Lost River.

Life of Crime

A great movie for a girls night out! Life of Crime is a comedy staring Jennifer Aniston, Isla Fisher and Tim Robbins. The story follow two released convicts who plan to kidnap the wife of a wealthy (and crooked) businessman in order to get ransom money from her husband. The plan backfires when the businessman isn’t that phased about his wife’s kidnapping because he is too preoccupied with his young and sexy mistress.

National Treasure

One of my favourite franchises, National Treasure is really cool and worth a watch on Friday on DStv channel 105 at 20:30. National Treasure is an action adventure movie starring Nicholas Cage as a treasure hunter and historian who has spent his life chancing a treasure that most people believe to be a myth.

Sin City

Sin City is a master piece and has everything any comic book adaption movie needs – great characters, lots of action and its visually beautiful. Sin City is a must for all you geeks out there. Catch it at 19:15 on DStv channel 114 on Saturday.

The Expendables 3Weekend Movies 3

This week’s 8pm Sunday movie on Mnet DStv channel 101 is the 3rd instalment in The Expendables franchise. This action movie is truly star-studed, featuring Mel Gibson, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger , Harrison Ford and UFC Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.
