The long awaited third instalment in the Shenmue franchise is being developed by Ys Net, created by Yu Suzuki. Shenmue 3 is set for release in December 2017 and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation 4 and PC.

The game is set in 1980 and the main character, Ryo Hazuki, is a teenage ninja on a mission to avenge his father’s death. It has been more than a decade since the first two games in the Shenmue franchise were released back in 1999 and 2001 respectively. The original game is considered as a pioneer for open-world video games. It was also considered to be one of the most expensive games ever made back in 1999 and reportedly had a development budget of $50 million.
