Deadpool is one of Marvel’s weirdest characters in my opinion and it’s fun to see that he is getting so much attention lately. 20th Century Fox has also given him his own movie starring Ryan Reynolds set for release in 2016. The studio has just released a set of photos for the upcoming movie which features some X-Men characters I bet you’ve never even heard of:
Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Ellie Phimister aka Negasonic Teenage Warhead was a student in Emma Frost’s telepathy class and first appeared in 2001 in New X-Men #115. She didn’t last long in the comics and died shortly after her first appearance in a massive attack against many mutants of which she had a reacquiring dream about. If you’re wondering about the name – co-creator, Grant Morrison, named her after this Monster Magnet song:
Copycat (real name Vanessa Carlysle) is a massive character in the Deadpool comic as Wade/Deadpool‘s love interest.
Another elusive and obscure character we know very little about. Ajax, or only known as Francis, is one of Deadpool‘s creator’s enforcers and we can safely guess that he won’t be a very friendly fellow.
Christine, aka Angel Dust, has the ability to give herself an adrenaline rush which increases her strength, concentration, and anger of course. In this picture she seems to have had some words with another mutant and Wade‘s best pal, Weasel.
Check out some shots of Deadpool in action and others of him just chilling:
The movie is set for release in 2016 and was directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Ed Skrein as Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust and T.J. Miller as Weasel.
The movie will tell the story of Wade Wilson, a Special Forces operative turned mercenary who has accelerated healing super powers. He adopts the name Deadpool and is a type of anti-protagonist, with a dark sense of humour who is hell bent on finding and killing the man who nearly ended his life and left him with this healing super power.
