True fans of the famous Harry Potter franchise know that the magic didn’t end when the seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published in 2007. Nor was it the end when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 wrapped up the franchise’s cinematic run in 2011. Author and creator of this magical franchise, JK Rowling has kept the story going for the past eight years by sharing revelations of the franchise after the final book was published via Twitter, interviews, answering fan queries and writing on the Pottermore website. Here are our top 5 favourite post Harry Potter details shared by the author herself:
Harry and Dudley Make Peace
Dudley is the world’s biggest dick and tortures Harry throughout the story, but Dudley’s last words to Harry was “I don’t think you’re a waste of space“. And it turns out the two remain in contact, with their children playing together whenever they are in each other’s areas. But don’t expect these two cousins to be best buds now, as Rowling said they don’t speak much to each other and only watch the children play with each other.
Neville Longbottom is Cool
Not only did actor Matthew Lewis grow up to be super handsome despite his awkward beginnings, but his character Neville Longbottom also ends up being cool according to Rowling. After the events of the final book, Rowling has revealed that Neville goes on to become Herbology professor at Hogwarts and his students thing he’s cool and love him.
Dumbledore Was Gay
This is my personal favourite and I respect Rowling’s continued support of the LGBT community as she revealed that the famous wizard and Hogwarts headmaster was gay. Rowling sadly revealed that Dumbledore’s great love was dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald, whom the powerful headmaster had defeated in a dual.
Ron and Hermione aren’t Soul Mates
If you were hoping for Ron and Hermione’s love affair to have been destiny, I’m sorry to crush your dreams. Rowling confessed that pairing the two was a mistake and that Harry and Hermione would’ve been a better match.
After the whole world (magic and muggle) nearly came to an end, Hermione was the only who bothered to go back and do her N.E.W.T.s (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests) at Hogwarts. I’m so glad she went back and finished as it wouldn’t have felt right for “one of the most brilliant witches in history” to be a wizarding school dropout. Ron and Harry only managed to get complete O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) and they only got that far thanks to Hermione allowing them to copy her work.
