Lots happened at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards this year and we’ve already chosen our 5 favourite moments. One of the most unexpected moments at this year’s awards came during host, Miley Cyrus’s closing performance when she surprise dropped a new album entitled Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.

In true hippie/stoner/Miley fashion, the pop star released her new album in a very “oh, by the way” manner and better yet, she revealed that the album will be free. The free online album features 23 tracks, of which Miley Cyrus performed the first track Dooo It! during her VMAs 2015 closing performance. Most of the songs are longer than four minutes and the whole album is very chilled and trippy with Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne lending his psychedelic touch to many of the songs. The songs have a leaked demo sound to them and sound like recordings she made in her garage. Miley only presented the album to her record label RCA Records after it was finished, making it feel like a (stoner) passion project. Miley described the album, saying:

When I made Bangerz, it was as true to me then as this record is now. It just happened naturally in my head. It’s like anything—styles just change.
