The Apple Car might become part of our future, with Apple aiming to have an electric car on the roads by 2019. This is according to Wall Street Journal who reported that the electric vehicle section of the company has been given the go ahead to increase its 600 member team by triple its amount.
The project, code-named Titan, reportedly received the green-light after Apple spent a year researching and investigating the possibility of an Apple-branded, which process included “meetings with two groups of government officials in California“. The company has reportedly also hired experts in the field of driverless cars, but according to people familiar with Apple’s plans reckon they don’t immediately pan to make the its first electric car fully autonomous.*This is only a concept designed as part of a competition and not official Apple concepts.
Rumours of an Apple car have been flying around all year, if it will ever see the light of day is beyond us. The idea of it is fantastic, but for Apple to develop their first ever mode of transport might take five or so years to get going.
