You may have heard about Broforce before, and if you haven’t – it is a co-op, heavily Americanized simulation, where you play as some of your favourite action stars from the 80s and 90s in pixel form. And after years in development, Cape Town-based developers, DevolverDigital, released a full version of the game on Steam starting at $9.99 (about R131.52) after months on Early Access.
The game is retro gold and will make any gamer feel nostalgic while still being challenging and heavily entertaining with its constant digs at over-the-top American patriotism. You are submerged in an almost entirely destructible pixellated environment as one of 15 bros, including Chuck Norris, Judge Dredd, Indiana Jones and more. There’s lots of blood, unexpected and devastating explosions, many different weapons, enemies, moves, you name it, it has it.
All of this started when Broforce was entered into the 2014 Ludum Dare #23 Game Jam and won the Humour award, came second for Fun and took fourth place in the Graphics category.
