We were lucky enough to get our hands on the brand new version of Apple’s smartphones, the iPhone 6S. The version we used is the beautiful new Rose Gold colour 64GB version to really get a feel for the updated phones from Apple.

Some people might be hesitant to upgrade to the new iPhone 6S range if they are already using an iPhone 6, and rightfully so as not that much has changed and we’ll deal with those features in a later post. But if you’re still using the iPhone 5 or iPhone 5S smartphones then the iPhone 6S is a legit upgrade and here are some of our initial impressions:

In terms of aesthetics, you aren’t looking at much of a difference. However, one design upgrade I’m completely obsessed with is the new Rose Gold colour option. Everyone notices this new subtly pink iPhone and most people absolutely love the new and bold colour option for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The Rose Gold joins the existing Space Grey, Grey and Gold options.

One new improvement everyone predicted and Apple delivered on is 3D Touch. The technology allows your touch screen to sense different pressures and can then respond differently to different touches. It  has been available on the Apple Watch as well as on the newer Macbooks and we’re excited to test it out some more as it improves.

The back camera has been given a nice little improvement to 12MP from the iPhone 6’s 8MP. The front facing camera has really been given the major overhaul with a 5MP and a selfie “flash”, making it any selfie-lover’s dream. Check out some of the images we took of the Rose Gold iPhone 6S using another new iPhone 6S:

If we look at what’s under the body, the iPhone 6S runs on a A9 chip and dual-core 1.84 GHz CPU. One thing you immediately notice from the new iPhones is that they are fast and responsive and perform most tasks (even multi-tasking) smoothly. The updated 2GB of RAM also give the new iPhones a noticeable speed boast. The new iPhones come in three size options, namely 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but don’t even bother with the 16GB as that is not nearly enough space for any user and seeing as there is no card slot, you don’t want to end up with a smartphone that can’t hold all your stuff.

The 4.7″, 750 x 1334 pixels display is just brilliant and delivers the most clear and vibrant picture I’ve ever seen on an iPhone. This beautiful display is protected by Ion-strengthened glass and an oleophobic coating to ensure you don’t get scratches and nicks as easily.

Initial Verdict

When you first use the new iPhone 6S you will immediately notice that everything is faster from the Touch ID sensor to the installing of new apps. The new Rose Gold colour option is strikingly beautiful in pure Apple form. The improved camera and vibrantly clear 4.7″ display helps you take and view the most awesome pictures. New features like 3D Touch might be convincing enough to consider this as your new upgrade.
