A Powerhouse

Under the hood, the HTC One A9 is a pretty powerful smartphone, its Quad-Core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU powers the device and the 32GB version comes with 3GB of RAM, the highest memory to be seen in a 5″ device to date.

The device supports up to 200GB of storage space from an external Micro SD, that aside from the 16GB or 23GB built-in to it. HTC have also added in a fingerprint sensor to up security.

HTC have  revealed that the device will come with the new version of Android 6.0, Marshmallow, along with Quick Charge 3.0, an Android feature that allows the device to charge up to 40% faster than a regular phone.

Taking stable photos will be so much easier thanks to the device’s Optic Image Stabilization (IOS). The 13MP camera along with a gyroscope and microprocessor, will reduce camera shake for better photos. It detects movement within 0.125 milliseconds and will automatically shift the lens to make up for the blur caused. Selfies will be brighter thanks to the front-facing camera’s 300% increase to light per pixel.

On the outside, the HTC One A9 is encased in a brushed steel cover with the antennas wrapped around the top and the bottom of the device. The phone weighs a measly 142 grams, and is only 0.29″ thin. The display is AMOLED (1080×1920) and the entire device is covered by HTC’s Uh-Oh protection, that will assure a one-time replacement for broken screens and water damage.

The device has a non-removable 2150 mAh Li-Ion battery, which promises up to 432 hours of standby time, 16 hours of talk time, and 60 hours of music.

HTC Themes lets you customise your phone with pre-set themes and then change every little detail to reflect your own style. Colours, text, wallpapers, icons, and sounds. When you select a photo the device will automatically match the theme to its colour gradient, creating one seamless UI that looks good. You can even share your creations with other HTC users around the world.

The HTC One A9 is the first every device to make use of Android Pay, allowing you to make payments on your device by using just your fingerprint. This feature might take a while to reach South Africa.
