As we patiently await the launch of Spotify in SA, it seems that the music streaming service is growing at a rapid rate around the world. This is according to their chief revenue officer Jeff Levick who commented on the state of new member sign ups to the media week in New York.

Close to 100 million people will be using Spotify by the end of the year according to Levick. This is a huge boost from their reported 75 million users that the company announced back in June 2015. Users stream music using the service for an average of 2 1/2 hours a day.

With Apple Music in full swing in SA, we cannot wait to see how Spotify does seen as it has a free add-supported subscription offer as well as paid ones, this compared to Apple Music’s paid only offerings. As for when we will be getting our Spotify on, we have no idea, but we just hope that it is soon.
