If you head on over to your app store on your brand new iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, you will see that WhatsApp and Facebook have new updates available. This latest update will enable 3D Touch on the app icon and in the actual apps themselves.

In case you don’t know, 3D Touch is the ability that allows the new iPhones to distinguish between light and firmer taps on the screen, adding new possibilities for navigation, gaming, and general use on the devices. The new iPhones have this 3DS touch feature, but the apps still need to be update to take full advantage of it.

You can now “Peek and Pop” in the WhatsApp app on pictures, videos, links, contact cards, and locations that you send or receive. This came in with the latest update.

On the Facebook app, when you make use of the 3D Touch feature on the home screen you can now gain access to a few frequently used features like taking you straight into the “Status Update” part of the app, upload a video or photo, or take a photo or video inside the app itself.

It is just a matter of time before we see the most popular apps make use of the 3D Touch feature. Let us hope that developers make full use of this, rather than leave it in the dark.
