A few months ago we reported that PS4 could be receiving PS2 emulation, this was according to some leaked screenshots that showed a few PS4 players playing PS2 titles on their console. Since then we did not see or hear anything of the sort, until now.

PS2 emulation on PS4 is completely 100% legit, and coming soon, with a representative from Sony saying:

We are working on utilising PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.

The emulation works by upscaling graphics to an increased resolution. The emulator uses black bars to enable image output at 1080p, this allows for an increased pixel count about four times its original size.  You can take a look at it in action below.

Although we have not tried this for yourselves yet, we cannot say what this looks like or if it is even worth taking note of. I would have preferred PS3 emulation to be honest. I do not see why Sony would go back two whole generations.
