When you visit the main menu you will now see a brand-new tab which will feature artists, illustrators, sculptors, and a whole array of different creative people showing their work in progress, live as it happens. This is a cool new way for fans to get to know their favourite artists’ process as well as an opportunity for different creatives to learn from each other’s skills and techniques.
Twitch is a massive business and was bought last year by Amazon for $1 billion, so they aren’t playing around (no pun-intended). Video gaming obviously played a big part in the company’s success as the gaming industry is beyond huge. However, the founders never intended on stopping at gaming and always planned on expanding its video content, with Head of Twitch Creative, Bill Moorier explaining that:
A couple of years ago I started to notice a new type of stream happening. Broadcasters would get tired of gaming and fire up photoshop and start sketching game related art. People were not just doing game-related art anymore. It was everything from Photoshop to really traditional oil and watercolor, even glass blowing and sculpture.We wanted a way to promote and bring attention to up-and-coming channels that we think have great talent and potential
