The man who started it all, George Lucas has already watched the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead of its official December 18 release.
This is the seventh movie in the highly popular franchise and the first one not directed by the creator himself.
This time around J.J. Abrams came on board to direct the next chapter in the franchise. This couldn’t have been an easy task, not just because of the huge scale of the movie but also of the devoted (and sometimes gruelling) Star Wars fan base. The pressure was on and who better to let us know whether we’re getting our hopes up or not than the Father of Star Wars himself.
Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, said that Lucas “really liked the movie” during a press conference. But when he is asked himself what he thought of the movie during a red carpet for his response was that:
I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for.
This might seem a little negative in light of his recent comments on why he decided to not make the new movie – He decided to retire from making mainstream movies and return to make more passion projects.
As Lucas attends more premiers, we’re sure to find out what he really thinks about the movies soon.
