The nominees for the 2016 Annual GRAMMY Awards were recently announced and Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar dominated the nominations. Many great winners have come and gone over the years.
But you get those artists who are legends in he music and entertainment industries but never get to take one of those shiny gramophone statuettes home.
Queen has been nominated a good few times and has even been inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, but has never won.
Who needs a GRAMMY anyway when you have a Guinness World Record? Queen’s classic rock song Bohemian Rhapsody holds the world record for Top British Single Of All Time.
You (and the rest of the world) probably know the lyrics to some of Katy Perry’s hit pop songs like Teenage Dreams and Firework. But that doesn’t seem to be enough to win, even after being nominated an impressive 11 times.
Sadly this legendary reggae artist has never been honoured with a win. He was only awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
The Strokes are responsible for such smash hits like Last Night and were responsible for reviving the garage band. Despite being Indie rock gold, these five guys have never even been nominated.
Guns n’ Roses
The vastness of this band’s success stretches across the whole world over a few decades. The band revived and ruled rock and roll, but have never received a win.
You just can’t seem to escape this guy – if he is not posing in his underwear, getting roasted, skateboarding, releasing albums or just causing havoc, you’re sure to regularly hear something about Justin Bieber. But the Recording Academy doesn’t care and have never awarded him with a gramophone.
Snoop Dogg is a household name and is one of the most prominent figures in the hip hop and rap scene. But, even after 16 nominations, Snoop Dogg is still to take home a win. With his massive success, we doubt he even cares.
Before his passing in 1996, Tupac has been nominated for a GRAMMY 7 times, but had never won. He even appealed at the 1996 Awards ceremony for change saying to the crowd:
Everybody looking tired. No surprises. We tired of that. We need something different.
