The 2016 series calendar is going to be a good one, but sadly some of our favourite shows will take their final bow this year.

Here are the shows that will have their final episodes aired in 2016:

Girls

Lena Dunham truly became a voice of a generation and we’re sad that HBO’s Girls is ending in 2016. The show will end in its 6th season.

Girls centres around a young and hip New York-based aspiring writer Hanna Hovath and her three best girlfriends. HBO confirmed that the series will end this year with season 6, stating that:

Lena Dunham and her brilliant collaborators, including Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner, have given HBO a signature series of rare wit and intelligence. They are exceptional talents, and I can’t wait to see what Lena, Jenni and Judd have in store for the final seasons of this unique show, and look forward to working with them on future projects.

Mike and Molly

This cute show about the adorable couple, Mike and Molly will be wrapping up things with its 6th season.

The CBS show starring the hilariously Melissa McCartney as Molly and Billy Gadell as Mike centres around a Chicago police officer and his wife who both (hilariously) struggle through their weight issues.

Downton Abbey

Fans were devastated that the highly popular (and posh) show will end after its 6th season.

The reason why the show is ending is because Dame Maggie Smith, who portrays the role of Lady Violet Crawley didn’t sign up for a 7th season. The show’s producer, Gareth Neame told The Sun that:

We easily could have gone for a 7th season, but if I’d have said ‘We haven’t got Maggie’ it would have been a shadow of itself.

Key and Peele

The popular web series will end this year after a 5 season run.

Key and Peele is a sketch comedy show that pushes the limits and stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

Mythbusters

After 14 years of blowing stuff up, popular Discovery channel show, MythBusters is coming to an end.

We’re really sad to see Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman go after watching them for 248 episodes, conducting nearly 3 000 experiments. The 14th and final season will air next year, truly ending an era. MythBusters first exploded onto our screens in 2003 and has seen some pretty epic moments.
