The Witness – PS4, PC

Explore a uniquely immersive and isolated world filled with hundreds of carefully crafted puzzles and peel away the secrets to uncover an even greater mystery lurking at its heart.

Get lost among the wilds and the ruins of a stunningly colourful and yet oddly desolate island where even animal life dare not stir. Wander the breath-taking stillness of its forests and beaches, scale the crumbling facades of its abandoned buildings and discover hidden questions in everything.

Seek out the hundreds of digital panels scattered across the environment and solve their puzzles to gain access to undiscovered areas where yet more mysteries await you. Nothing is incidental – pay close attention to the world around you and you’ll find all the clues you need to guide you.

From Jonathan Blow, creator of 2008’s critically-acclaimed indie hit Braid, The Witness is a brooding work of passion, rich in atmosphere, challenge and intrigue.

No Man’s Sky – PS4, PC

Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man’s Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man’s Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you’ll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before – and perhaps never will again.

At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you’ll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

The Tomorrow Children – PS4

A disastrous experiment has melted humanity’s consciousness into a dismal mass known as the Void – and only you, brave citizen, can journey into it and recover what’s left to rebuild the human race. Generate your projection clone from one of many classes such as Mine Workers, Engineers and Radio Officers to gather valuable resources and restore our ruined civilisation town by town.

Create Combatants and use weapons to fend off the hulking monsters threatening to reduce our work to rubble. While many other brave countrymen and women are all online, toiling for the greater good, they are only visible during key moments. Do not be alarmed! They too are helping to restore mankind to its former glory. Your loyal comrades are vital to victory, even when you cannot see them. Never fear – for whether these courageous citizens are laying down road between towns or crafting new items from fresh resources, the actions of one benefit all. There is strength in our collective!

Firewatch – PS4, PC

The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge.

Your supervisor, a woman named Delilah, is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you’ve left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the world, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.

Mighty No.9 – PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC

Mighty No. 9 is a Japanese 2D side-scrolling action game that takes the best elements from 8 and 16-bit classics that you know and love and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!

You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through twelve stages using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!

Every aspect of Mighty No. 9’s development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself.

Cuphead – Xbox One

Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930’s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional cell animation (hand drawn & hand inked), watercolour backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets. Cuphead is all action, all the time.
