The best news of 2016 (so far) is that Netflix has launched globally. And in even better news, this includes South Africa.

In a press conference held in Las Vegas, the CEO and co-founder, of the popular video streaming service, Reed Hastings, announced that it will now be available in 130 countries.

When you visit the website you are given the option to begin your free month trial. Previously, you were informed that the service isn’t currently available in your country.

If you choose to continue to use Netflix after the end of your free month you can choose between the following plans:

  1. Basic (one screen at a time): R129.99;
  2. Standard (two screens at the same time): R164.99;
  3. Premium (four screens at the same time): R199.99.

You can enjoy unlimited TV shows and movies on your smartphone, table, game console, PC, laptop, etc depending on your subscription. Netflix joins existing local video on demand services like ShowMax. But the new service may prove to be very successful here as it seems the service is set to take over the world.

Netflix is the world’s biggest video streaming service and has over 70 million members in over 190 countries. It boasts an impressive catalogue of 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films.
