If you were trying to get a raid done last night, then you were just as disappointed as us to find that the PlayStation Network was down. Error messages plagued users as they tried to log in and play online. Friends lists, the PlayStation Store, and connection to the network in general was not possible.

The outage lasted for a good 10 hours, and PlayStation did not give any solid answer for the cause of the downtime. Well, it seems that Phantom Squad, the hacker group that threatened to bring down the PSN on Christmas day, were responsible for the outage.

After all the drama, the PSN is back online and fully functional. Sony also plans to extend PS Plus, PS Now, and video rental services in light of the downtime.
