The latest iPhone date bug will turn your beloved (and expensive) device into a paper weight.
If you set your iPhone’s clock back to 01/01/1970 you’ll apparently render your device completely useless. Once you’ve done this there is nothing you can do other than take the device in to be fixed physically by a trained iStore employee or you might need to entirely replace the device.
The bug was discovered when a fake image started circulating the Internet prompting iPhone users to set their devices’ clocks back to 01/01/1970 and then to reboot the device to discover a retro easter egg – the old multicoloured Apple logo. But users soon realised that they had broken their devices and the device would never go past the reboot screen with the current Apple logo.
The bug is most likely due to a well-known issue with the Unix class of operating systems. A similar glitch in the matrix happened last year when certain Facebook users were promoted to celebrate the social network’s 46th birthday.
