It’s one of the most iconic suits in entertainment history and one many fans have attempted to recreate in real-life for Halloween or cosplay. But if you wanted to own an actual Darth Vader suit that would offer you a NASA-approved space suit, prosthetic limps, voice synthesiser, helmet, breathing aid and other high-tech gear and gadgets, then you’re going to have to save for a very long time.
Shade Station decided to calculate how much cash you’d have to collect before you could become a bad-ass Star Wars villain. Shade Station used real-life objects, gadgets and existing tech to calculate what a movie-accurate suit would cost to replicate. A NASA space suit, F-35 helmet and the medical costs of maintaining the suit were used to estimate a total. The findings were put into a cool infographic:
