You’ve probably heard before that Facebook isn’t good for your romantic relationships. It’s funny how a platform which was created to bring us closer together and form deeper connections has caused many of us to drift even further apart from each other. Certain people have complained that this social media platform used by over one billion people has been the root of all evil. Facebook seems to be particularly damning on romantic relationships, with people actually going so far as to directly blame the site co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg as the reason they are no longer with their romantic partners. Even married people have blamed the social media platform as the reason things didn’t work out in their marriage and they had to get divorced.

To understand why Facebook puts particular pressure on romantic relationships, Stop Procrastinating has conducted a study to get a better understanding of the problem. The study surveyed 5 000 Facebook users and looked at their behaviour and how the site has impacted their relationships. The study found some shocking details on how the site might be souring relationships:

Facebook is designed so you never lose touch with anyone ever again. The result is that more people are falling in love on the platform, having affairs and flirting when they shouldn’t be.
