Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release later this year. Now, it has just been confirmed that arguably one of the baddest villains out there, Darth Vader is set to star in the new movie.

This new Star Wars story is the first standalone Star Wars story that Disney has planned since it bought the popular franchise from Lucasfilm.

The first Star Wars movie that was created under the Disney name, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was a massive hit, so expectation are high for the standalone movies. Rogue One has come under particular fire after fans weren’t happy with the first teaser trailer for the film. Also, rumours have been circulating that the movie had to undergo extensive reshoots and edits after the first cut was viewed by Disney and obviously not liked. Fans will hopefully be silenced and distracted for a while with news that Darth Vader is going to be making an appearance in Rogue One.

The news was confirmed by an Entertainment Weekly cover featuring a photo of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s characters Jyn Erso ( portrayed by Felicity Jones), Cassian Andor (portrayed by Diego Luna), and K-250 (portrayed by Alan Tudyk). There are some space crafts and AT-ATs in the background just to remind you that the story takes place in space. However, the setting seems to be tropical with trees and the beach featuring in the background too. All the cover of Entertainment Weekly says is:

34 years before the Force Awakens. A new band of heroes fights the Dark Side and an old foe… DARTH VADER IS BACK.

Entertainment Weekly goes on to describe what the article will contain:

In this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, we bring you an inside look at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which explores just how the Rebellion came to possess the information that revealed the fatal flaw in the Empire’s super weapon. It’s a battlefield heist that fans have been imagining for nearly 40 years, described in the opening crawl of 1977’s original Star Wars, with little details scattered throughout.
