Rock band, Fall Out Boy has teamed up with rapper, Missy Elliot to redo the Ghostbusters song for the upcoming, all-female reboot movie.
The new Ghostbusters song, Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid) is available now when you pre-order the Ghostbusters original soundtrack. The full original soundtrack for the movie will be available on 13 July 2016.
The song sounds very similar to the original by Ray Parker Jr. when it starts off. But then Fall Out Boy’s signature funk is rubbed all over the new Ghostbusters song with some powerful guitar riffs, hard drums and Patrick Stumps’s unique vocals. Missy Elliot comes in with a catchy rap written specifically for the new movie. The lyrics are:
Can’t sleep when I’m home alone. Night-time and my lights are on. You got me scared, hiding underneath my bed. In my closet, down the hall – I see shadows all over my wall. Many monsters, they’re big and tall. Ghostbusters, who you gonna call? They roll up to my house. They knocking at my door. They come bustin’ in – kill all them ghost. There’s something strange in my neighbourhood. I look out the window, and it ain’t too good. I ain’t afraid, so let’s get to it and smoke these ghosts like backwoods.
The new Ghostbusters movie was directed by Paul Feig. It stars an all-new cast consisting of Melissa McCartney as Abby Yates, Kirsten Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann, Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan and Liam Hemsworth as Kevin. The new movie will feature cameos from our favourite original cast members like Bill Murray as Doctor Peter Venkman, Dan Ackroyd as Doctor Raymond Stantz, Sigourney Weaver asDana Barrett and Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddmore. Sadly, Harold Ramis who portrayed the role Doctor Egon Spengler in the original Ghostbusters movie, passed away on 24 February 2014.
