Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s official debut at London’s West End is just around the corner. New official photos have been released of the cast which includes a grownup Harry Potter (portrayed by Jamie Parker), Ron Weasley (portrayed by Paul Thornley) and Hermione Granger (portrayed by Noma Dumezweni).
“It’s a unique gig in the sense that you have seven volumes of backstory that you get to bring on with you. And we were all very keen to make sure that the first time you see Harry it just feels right.“- Jamie Parker (Harry Potter)
Harry (Jamie Parker), Ginny (Poppy Miller) and Albus Potter (Sam Clemmett).
Ron Weasley (Paul Thornley) and Hermione Granger (Noma Dumezweni) along with their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley (Cherrelle Skeete).
Draco (Alex Price) and his son Scorpius Malfoy (Anthony Boyle)
The plot for the play is still masked in magical mystery and all we have to go by now is its description which reads:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
The play is set in two parts and will feature a cast of over 30 actors, taking place right after the last story ended where Harry drops James Sirius and Albus Severus off at Platform 9 3/4.
If you’re not lucky enough to attend the two part play then you’ll be able to purchase the script and find out what happens to grownup Harry Potter and his many magical friends.
