New Han Solo 1

The new Han Solo movie, which hasn’t received an official title yet, will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The movie will be marketed as a Star Wars Story like the upcoming Rogue One movie. The new Han Solo movie will follow the iconic galactic smuggler in his early 20s. Lord explains that he has always kind of related to Han Solo.

I sort of relate to him. He doesn’t want to do anything he is told. He is very sarcastic and at the end of the day he is unreasonably optimistic. He is a grouchy, cynical guy with the biggest heart in the galaxy.

Miller goes on to describe Han Solo as a “maverick, a scoundrel“.

He is clever but he’s not smart. He wants to present himself as this tough guy but he is lovable. He is one of the most iconic characters of all time.

In describing the choice of who to cast as the new Han Solo, Miller explains it as one of the hardest casting decisions of his career. He told the crowd that to cast the new Han Solo, the film-makers looked at over 3 000 different actors.

We thought this was the hardest casting challenge of all time. They were the biggest boots to fill.

We also got some details from Star Wars: Episode VIII director, Rian Johnson. He explained that the movie is going to pick up where the last one left off, adding that “it was a break from tradition“.

The second film is where we zoom into the characters, getting to the heart of them and challenging them.

The sequel to J.J. Abrams’s highly successful, The Force Awakens, is set for release on 15 December 2017.

The new Han Solo standalone movie is set for release on 25 May 2018. Until the new Han Solo movie comes out, have a look at The Force Awakens told through emojis, seeing as yesterday was World Emoji Day.
