Sometimes the Xbox One thumbsticks get damaged and need replacement. The Xbox One Controller is much quicker than the DualShock 4, as it only has 5 screws holding the case together on the motherboard. Once you have removed the screws, it is smooth sailing to remove the Xbox One thumbsticks as they just clip out.
Here is a video to show you how to replace your Xbox One thumbsticks in under a minute. Check out the video below:
Keep in mind that you can replace these Xbox One thumbsticks with any thumbsticks, even the DualShock 4 ones. So if you like the feel of the DualShock 4 ones, then swap them around. In case you do not want to watch the video, here is a visual guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Remove the grips
The grips on the controller can be unclipped in a few seconds. You will need to unclip both of them on each side of the controller, to reveal the screws.
Step 2: Unscrew the 5 screws
There will be 5 screws which you will need to remove to separate the controller to replace the Xbox One thumbsticks. We have marked them in an image below. The one in the middle, is under a sticker, so you will have to pierce the sticker to reveal the screw.
Step 3: Remove the back and front face
Now that there is nothing holding the controller together, you can now remove the back and front case of it. There is no clips or anything, all you need to do is separate the controller from the case.
Step 4: Replace the Xbox One thumbsticks
Easiest part of the method, just remove the thumbsticks by pulling them off the shafts. Then slide the new thumbsticks onto the shaft.
Step 5: Close it all up
Now that the new Xbox One thumbsticks are on the device, all you need to do is place the front face back onto the controller, and then the back case, and replace all the screws you removed in step 2. You are now done!
