If you’ve been living under a rock or recently suffered major head trauma, then you may not have heard about Pokémon GO. The new mobile game that has the world stuck to their smartphones’ screens, lets players catch Pokemon in a virtual world. The new mobile game is aimed at encouraging players to get up and go out into the real world to catch all the Pokemon they can. So just how many Pokemon are there to catch in Pokémon GO? We’ve broken down how many and which Pokemon you can expect to catch in Pokémon GO.

RELATED: How To Get Banned On Pokémon GO

To start off with, there are apparently 151 Pokemon in Pokémon GO. The catch, however, is that you’re not able to catch ’em all. The new mobile game contains all the original Pokemon which first appeared in the 90s when the franchise started gaining popularity. This list contains legendary Pokemon which are apparently not yet available to catch in Pokémon GO, including Mew, Mewto, Articuno, Ditto, Moltres and Zapdos.

Another thing you need to know is that your in-game Pokédex increases as you level up with the game or as you catch certain rare Pokemon. This in-game Pokédex tops out at 142 Pokemon that are currently catchable in Pokémon GO and is identical to the official online list. These also correspond in numbers, with Lukitung for instance being number 108 on both the online Pokédex and the in-game Pokédex, giving off an indication that this might be the complete list of current catchable Pokemon in Pokémon GO.

You’re able to add Pokemon to your Pokédex in Pokémon GO in the following ways:

  • By catching a Pokemon in the wild;
  • By hatching a Pokemon from a Pokémon GO Egg;
  • By evolving a Pokemon when you have enough Candies

Here’s a list of the Pokemon you can currently catch, hatch or evolve in Pokémon GO:
