Who Is Doctor Strange?
In the Doctor Strange movie, we will be introduced to Dr. Stephen Strange (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch).
We learn in the Doctor Strange movie that his life changes forever when he loses the ability to use his hands following a car accident. He tries traditional medicine in the hopes of regaining the use of his hands to be able to continue his work as a medical doctor and renowned surgeon. However, when western medicine fails him in the Doctor Strange movie, he places his bets on a mysterious enclave which is battling dark forces aimed at bending and destroying reality. In the Doctor Strange movie, Dr. Stepehen is faced with a choice between a path of prosperity or assisting in the fight to survive.
The Doctor Strange movie is filled with very peculiar and fascinating characters. As mentioned, Benedict Cumberbatch portrays the lead role of Dr. Stephen Strange. Joining him is an array of famous faces, including:
- Tilda Swanson as The Ancient One;
- Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer who is the love interest in the Doctor Strange movie;
- Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo who is Doctor Strange’s archenemy; and

All of the characters in the Doctor Stange movie are marvelously entertaining.
Don’t expect Doctor Strange to inspire you to be a better person in the Doctor Strange movie as he is as anti-hero as they come. His ego and selfishness are almost as big as his superhero abilities and he is pretty much a massive jerk in the Doctor Strange movie. But Marvel has become great at creating these sort of characters which we saw in Ant-Man and Iron Man and there remains something endearing and hilarious about Dr. Stephen Strange.
Tilda Swanson’s The Ancient One serves as a mysticism mentor in the Doctor Strange movie and you’re sure to absolutely love her cool character.
The Doctor Strange movie might be a bit difficult to follow when you’re unfamiliar with the franchise as there is a ton of space and time travel going on. There is also a lot of references to magic in the Doctor Strange movie as the lead character becomes a superhero sorcerer.
There are some tricky moments to follow throughout the Doctor Strange movie, but you ultimately need to know that the fate of the universe rests in Doctor Strange’s hands (excuse the pun) and he has many cool magical and metaphysical abilities allowing him to travel between multiple universes and dimensions.
