The latest Skylanders game is awesome, but to make it even better, it has one of the best companion apps you can find. Many games that release come with terrible apps that just add more money to the equation, but the Skylanders Creator app goes hand in hand with the game and lets your create Skylanders on your mobile device using all the creating tools available.
The best thing about the Skylanders Creator app is that if you create a Skylander on the console version of Skylanders: Imaginators, you can transfer it to your Skylanders Creator app, with sound. Yes, the game transmits sound waves to your phone with the data of the Skylander. Call it magic or just clever technology, but the Skylanders Creator app works like a charm.
While the Skylanders Creator app might have everything you need to create a Skylander, it is important to remember that the console game does not, as you need to unlock it all by opening up chests in the game. The nice thing about the Skylanders Creator app is that you can test all the cool heads, swords, legs, and other objects before you make your final decision on what you want to do in the game.
How To Build A Skylander
Firstly, you will want to choose an element and Battle Class for your Skylander. You can choose from any of the 10 elements, but keep in mind that in order for you to actually create that element, you will need to own the Creation Crystal for that element. The starter pack comes with a Fire Creation Crystal, so we will use that one as an example. You then have to choose what Battle Class you would take to add to the Creation Crystal. There are 10 types of classes, that range from magic, to battle axe, all the way to assassin. Each of them have a different play style and set of unique abilities and skills. You don’t need anything special to select a class, just choose the one you think is the coolest for the creation you are going for.
Once that is done, you will be asked to choose the look, personality, and power of the Skylander you are making in the Skylanders Creator app. This is the fun part, as the body parts and personality is what makes your Skylander so unique. While you are going through your body parts, make sure you keep an eye out on the left-hand side of the screen as each new part will adjust the power abilities. Seeing as we went with an attack-based Skylander, we will focus on the damage counter at the top of the list. The higher the amount, the stronger the Skylander will be.
When looking at gear like chest armor and shoulder pads, keep in mind that you need to focus on the defense stat, you can see this just under damage stat. Keeping track of these numbers while building your Skylander in the Skylanders Creator app is crucial to its success in the game. Once you have chosen all the gear, you can then move onto skills and personality. The skills will decide how your Skylander defends itself in battle, by either using magical abilities, or direct attacks. The skills available all depend on the Battle Class you chose at the start of the process in the Skylanders Creator app. Select a few abilities available, and move onto the personality.
The personality side of your Skylander will determine how its speaks and how it behaves in the game. Fiddle around with these options in the Skylanders Creator app until you are happy with them. There are some very funny ones, so go wild.
Congratulations, you have created your own Skylander in the Skylanders Creator app. Feel free to play around with more combinations, as the possibilities are endless. Remember, you can use the console version of the game to create the perfect Skylander using the exact same method as the Skylanders Creator app.
