The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been out for some time now and although both devices boast impressive features these are our favourite new iPhone 7 features.
Solid State Home Button
We all had to say goodbye to the old physical home button when the iPhone 7 range released. Instead of a physical button, we now have a solid indent on the front of the iPhone, that detects pressure when pushed down on it. Apple did this to save those people who press their home button so much that it actually starts to malfunction, and to also make the iPhone 7 water resistant.
No gaps between the button means that it didn’t have to be sealed to prevent water from entering the device. This magical button that tricks us into believing it really presses down, is one of our favourite new iPhone 7 features that’s subtle yet significant.
If you ever owned an iPhone in the past, you would know that the loudspeaker on the device was a bit bland. It would crackle, and sound would distort on high volumes. The introduction of the stereo speaker on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, means that all that output can be divided into two speakers, to allow a more subtle sound while listening to music.
The stereo speakers also sound fantastic while gaming and watching YouTube videos, as the speakers now output sound the way it was meant to be heard. This means that every explosion, every lol cat video, and all your Candy Crush sound effects, sound better than ever, making this a well-worth new iPhone 7 feature.
New Camera Systems
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus received huge camera improvements. Starting with the iPhone 7, its new OIS system and 12 MP camera, can produce low-light photographs never seen before on an iPhone. The camera is much more stable and has seen various hardware improvements that were only available on the iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus.
The iPhone 7 Plus’s camera has to be experienced to truly understand how industry-leading it is. Its dual camera system has a 2X optical zoom, while the quad-tone flash, lights up any low-light photo. One of the best iPhone 7 features has to be the Portrait Mode, that lets you take bokeh effect pictures, which in theory are professional photograph with a depth effect.
Everything inside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has been tweaked and improved. The new Fusion A10 chip, lets you do so much more, much faster. One of the best new iPhone 7 features is it’s ability to multitask without compromising on loading times.
The new chips in the devices, also allow for some cool new software iPhone 7 features like Raise to Wake, which sees you just lift your iPhone up and the screen will turn on, and Hey Siri, which lets you call Siri without touching the device. Games also look fantastic as the new chips provide better processing power.
If there was one thing that drove people crazy about the past iPhone models, is that the 16GB models were completely useless in term of storage space. You would need to run your entire life off your iCloud to be able to survive with that limited storage. Thankfully Apple listened and dropped the 16GB model for a 32GB model. The 64GB model might’ve been scrapped but at least we know that users who don’t want to fork out for the 128GB and 256GB models, will be able to opt for the smaller model.
