The Nokia 3310 was first released in 2000. It felt like everyone owned one of these tough phones. Everyone who has owned a 3310 knows that these little devices were awesome and now it’s rumoured that they will be relaunched.
HMD Global, the company that ownes the rights to the Nokia brand is set to relauch the Nokia 3310 along with a few new phones during this year’s Mobile World Congress taking place on 26 February in Barcelona.
Apparently, the other rumoured headsets, apart from the Nokia 3310, will be a Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. The Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 are rumoured to be downmarket Android 7.0 Nougat-run devices, similar to the Nokia 6 which was released in the Chinese market last year, but is yet to become available globally (if it ever does).
We will all have to wait to see what happens during the exiting World Mobile Congress, but we really hope that the beloved Nokia 3310 will be making a comeback. The Nokia 3310 was known for it’s incredible battery life and indestructible body. Past owners of the Nokia 3310 will also remember that you could customise the cover and make the device truly stand out. The Nokia 3310 was one of the first devices to nail mobile gaming, with classic mobile games like Snake and Space Invaders.
There are many devices that have dominated the mobile market, but the Nokia 3310 is one we’re especially keen to see make a potential return. No official news has confirmed the relaunch of the Nokia 3310, but it is expected that the device will maintain the classic look and introduce some new updated features. The new Nokia 3310 is expected to cost €59 (about R822).
