The Matrix is the world that has been pulled over your eyes, to blind you from the truth.

-Morpheus (Laurence Fishburn), The Matrix, 1999.

There isn’t much more to report than that The Matrix reboot is allegedly in the early stages of development. But as we’ve learned in the past with franchises like Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and Ghostbusters, then the reports about Thr Matrix reboot is probably true.

There are so many questions we have about a possible The Matrix reboot like:

  • Will it be a continuation of the story originally created by Andy and Larry Wachowski? Or will The Matrix reboot feature a different storyline?
  • Will Keanu Reeves return as Neo? Or will there be an entirely new cast?
  • Will Andy and Larry Wachowski be directly?
  • Will it become a huge franchise like Star Wars which could be developed into various adaptations like TV shows and standalone movies?

We will have to wait and see whether The Matrix reboot will happen, and just cross out fingers that WB doesn’t screw it up.

The Matrix reboot could potentially be huge for the franchise and hopefully get new fans on board, while satisfying old fans’ needs for some more content.

The Matrix was originally released in 1999 starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Laurence Fishburne. The franchise grew into a trilogy with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revelations released in 2003. The movie became unexpectedly popular due to its relevant tech-centric story at the turn of the millennium as well as its ground-breaking special effects like the iconic slo-mo “bullet time”. The Matrix also won four Acadamy Awards for Best Film Editing, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects.
