The world lost a true legend when Carrie Fisher passed away just before the end of last year. Many fans mourned her loss, especially Star Wars fans who regarded her iconic Princess Leia Organa as one of the best Star Wars women to ever grace our screens.
There have been some super Star Wars women who are fantastic female role models. These are our 5 favourite Star Wars women.
Voiced by Lupita Nyong’o in The Force Awakens, Maz is one of the oldest, most badass Star Wars women ever. Maz owns the watering hole for pirates and galactic scoundrels on the planet of Takodana and is over 1000 years old.
She might be small in size, but Maz is one of the Star Wars women you don’t want to mess around with as she is more powerful than meets the eye.
Portrayed by Felicity Jones in Rogue One, Jyn Erso is one of the leading Star Wars women that we instantly loved. She, like many other Star Wars women, show that you never have to let your past define you, but that you can be great no matter your background.
Padawan to Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano is one of the most memorable and important Star Wars women in the animated series, Star Wars Rebels. She is regarded as one of the heroes of the Clone Wars.
Rey is one of the most mysterious Star Wars women. We hardly know anything about this awesome character who was introduced in The Force Awakens and is set to star in the future Skywalker storylines too. Rey starts off as a Jakku scavenger, left to fend for herself as a child. But she soon learns that her destiny is being shaped by the Force and we reckon she is set to become one of the most formidable Star Wars women of all time.
Princess Leia Organa
It just wouldn’t be a complete list of Star Wars women if Princess Leia Organa wasn’t number one. This rebel at heart seems to be surrounded always by the force. Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader was her dad, Luke Skywalker is her brother, and she is mother to Kylo Ren. She will always be our favourite galactic princess.
BONUS: Hera Syndulla
Hera is one of the Star Wars women appearing in the animation series, Star Wars Rebels. Hera Syndulla was the captain of the Ghost crew and was considered as one of the strongest Star Wars women, while also being warm and nurturing.
